Green Spaces

Community Parks

Two outdoor spaces where art, ecology, and community intersect — each uniquely shaped by Milwaukee artists and the communities they serve.

Location 1

Creative Commons @ 5th & Washington

The Creative Commons, located at the corners of 5th and Washington Streets, is a collaboration among Arts @ Large, the City of Milwaukee Department of Transportation, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and community partners that connects art, sustainability, and education. It's a space for everyone to gather, connect, learn, enjoy art, and celebrate Milwaukee's creativity! The space is open for all ages, with community spirit at its heart.

The park

0.52 acres of eco-art

With the support of multiple partners, Arts @ Large transformed a 0.52-acre city-owned lot into Palafito Eco-Arts Park, an outdoor eco-arts learning center. The park features a 7,000-gallon stormwater cistern, native plantings, an urban agriculture area, and a performing arts stage. Serving as a vibrant green space, it provides a creative and environmental resource for the Walker's Point community.
